  2. I'd vote for a horse--they are quite strong and have longer reach. Do you know which is the correct answer? Now you have me curious!

  3. I have no idea but I'm guessing the horse.

    ReplyDelete
  4. depends on the dog and the horse participating :D
my guess is, unless the dog is a reteiver or something, the horse would win.

that pincushion is so elegant! I love the classic simplicity.

    thank you for your giveaway.

  5. I'm thinking its maybe a horse!!! x

  6. Great giveaway! Please count me in!

  7. I think a dog, they are less dense than a horse so will float more easily giving them more forward thrust - so how carefully I have considered your question! Love the giveaways.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I think a horse. No logical reason for thinking it, but the mental image is pretty funny. :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. A dog! Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I have seen dogs swim pretty fast, but I think horses can swim too... have to go with dogs :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. I have heard of horses swimming between islands but never dogs so I guess horse because the paparazzi don't stick around to get pics of second place ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Dog no doubt!
    pick me pick me!

    ReplyDelete
  13. A horse for no good reason. Thanks for the give away.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm going for the dog, especially my dog who has short but active legs!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well, it depends. If it as our dog and a horse - it would be the horse!!! Our dog CAN NOT swim! Seriously! Unfortunately that does not mean that she does not go into the water. She seems totally oblivious to the fact that she can not swim and hubby had to rescue her more than once (luckily she had her leash on)

Thanks for the chance to win!
You are welcome to enter my giveaway, too. You can win a set of costum-made buttons! :-)

  16. oh, my god, I love polka dots!!!
thank you for this cute giveaway!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm guessing a dog. Horses have so much more mass to move.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I will say a dog but I guess it would depend on what the dog was. Love the picture above..wonder if my dogs would wear sunglasses.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hmmm, a tricky one. Neither animal are naturals at swimming, but I guess I would say a dog. More streamlined, and a greater propulsion rate I think! THanks for the great giveaway!

  20. Oooo....ummm...I'm going to go with dog!

    ReplyDelete
  32. A dog, definitely!

    Thanks for the cute giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I suppose it depends on a distance. I've never seen a horse swim so have no clue how good they are in the water (although I do know they can swim). Dogs, I have seen swim, but they are not very fast. This is going to be a complete guesswork. My final answer is HORSE.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well, that depends on the breed of dog! My labs are excellent swimmers, but bulldogs sink like rocks! Fun question, though, and GREAT giveaway! I have a bit of a pin cushion obsession and little ones are my favorites!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh my goodness! The photo in your header is AWESOME. I do not think those dogs could swim faster than a horse.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Lovely giveaway, thank you. I would have to guess at a horse, but for absolutely no reason.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Pretty sure a dog would beat a horse. Because he knows how to dog paddle. :o)

    ReplyDelete
  41. i have no idea but i'll guess dog?
i have a doxie too-she's my studio mascot and picks the giveaway winners on my blog :)

  45. My vote is for a dog! Thanks for the great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think dogs, especially dachshunds! though maybe not my little three-legged dachshund Davey. I'm too scared he'd sink to even let him near deep water

    ReplyDelete
  47. I LOVE spots. And I am in desperate need of a new pincushion. Also, I'm very happy to have found your blog, it is lovely!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'd say that the dog could swim faster than the horse. You'll definitely have to let us know the answer to that.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm betting on the horse, especially after seeing those adorable short legs on your trio.

    ReplyDelete
  58. how deep is the water? I'd go with horse/

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm saying horse because they are good swimmers despite their size. Also the size of the dog directly relates to their swimming speed. Even a wolfhound could not overtake a swimming horse.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm going to guess dog... and please give those three cuties up top a kiss from me!

    ReplyDelete
  61. What a cute blog! I would have to say a dog.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think a dog would swim faster being lighter.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Definitely a dog. more aerodynamic :-)

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'm going to say horse, just because it's counter intuitive and it might be one of those trick questions. ;)
And your dogs are so adorable!
Thanks for the chance to win.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think a dog but the horses can swim quit good! Thanks for the give away! So cute!

    ReplyDelete

  70. I'm going with horse, just because most other people are going with dog, I'm a bit that way ;) Thanks for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  71. mmm, lovely fabrics. My first instinct was to say that a dog swims faster, but I'm not sure.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Depends which horse and which dog... but I'd go with horses, in general. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I really don't know, my dog was afraid of water, even little puddles.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm thinking a dog... I know one in particular who can keep up with his triatholete owner!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Definitely a horse, because a dog can only paddle

    ReplyDelete
  76. I would vote for the dog, too. But it depends on the race of the dog, if it is a big or a small one.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'd bet on the dog, but he'd have to take his sunglasses off first (love your header pic!). Those polka dot fabrics are gorgeous. Thanks for the giveaway.

  81. What a wonderful giveaway. I would love to be a part of it. I am not sure what would swim faster. I think a dog, but definantly not my dog. He's afraid of water.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I love dots! I'd guess dogs but I have no idea :-)

    ReplyDelete
  83. I am thinking that a dog can swim faster as I am not sure that horses could swim...
Those dots are fun. Thanks for the chance to win such cute fabrics and pin cushion. I love your header - it made me laugh out loud- Love the dogs sunglasses.

  84. Oh my goodness, what a great giveaway! I looove polka dots! Thanks for the opportunity. I would guess the dog is faster.

    ReplyDelete
  85. When I see your cool dogs on the top, I think they only want to chill in the sun on a deck chair and not swim in the water with a horse...............they will only cheer on the swimming horse....faster...faster ;-)

  87. I've never seen a horse swim! I've seen dogs swim though, and I'm always surprised how fast they can doggie paddle. Maybe it would be a tie?

Love those dotty fabrics, dots are my favourite 'neutral'.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I think a horse

    ReplyDelete
  89. Love your banner photo! We swam horses for therapy and they could outswim me.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I am voting for the horse as it's a lot longer than a dog. Love those spotty fabrics!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I'm also voting horse. No logic.

    Thanks for the giveaway chance!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I'm going with the dog...

    ReplyDelete
  93. Great giveaway and I actually squealed when I saw the picture of the dogs! But I think I'll vote for horses as the faster swimmer.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I vote dog. They don't call it "horsey paddle" for a reason.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Great giveaway, thanks for a chance to win! i think horses swim faster!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hehee, i'm thinking that a dog could be quicker than a horse, though depends on the breed! My dog has short stubby legs and would never beat a horse, but I'm sure there must be a breed out there that can do it...??

    ReplyDelete
  101. hmmm dog. No horse! ooohh I don't know... I know for sure they both swim faster and better than I do! There. Thanks for the lovely giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Great giveaway! Maybe a horse?? Thanks for participating in SMS Giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  103. LOL, what a question! I assume that if it wasn't too deep, the horse could just run through the water, no problems. I also know a lot of dogs who can't swim...so perhaps I will go for the horse, he he.

    debyeo at hotmail dot com

    ReplyDelete
  104. Depends on what kind of dog, I think. What a lovely selection of dots! Thanks for participating in the give-away.

    ReplyDelete
  105. i think, in general, having no real idea...dog.
    thanks, dots rock my world!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Wow , thats an interesting question. What I want to know is why you want to know! I will go with horse even though they weigh more I am betting their legs are so much more powerful that they would beat the dog.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'm thinking a dog can swim faster.

    ReplyDelete
  108. So cute! Thanks for the great giveaway! And, I'm thinking a dog would be the faster swimmer. :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. Hope this isn't a trick question. Ha!
My first thought was dog...my second thought was horse! Yup...I have no clue which is right. Can I still enter this great giveaway please.
    pshanks(at)sasktel(dot)net

  110. I am guessing a dog, cause those spindly little horse legs (in comparison to the body) wouldn't be as effective as dog legs at paddling. Actually I envision both of them being pretty slow.

*edit: ok I consulted the internet and it looks like horses can swim as fast as 30 mph and dogs can go 3 mph. I am surprised that it's a factor of ten difference and nobody knows about it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. i think a horse because...um.... because I'm the a mother and I say so. (Love the dots--hope I win.)

    ReplyDelete
  112. I would say a horse, I don't know why I am just going with it :)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  140. I'm thinking it's gotta be the horse, because there is no way a well dressed dog (as in your pictures )(and all dogs should be so well dressed) would get his or her beautiful coat wet.

    aliben7 (at) gmail (dot) com

    ReplyDelete
  145. I would say that a horse would swim faster because they have long legs. I love your pincushion and fabric. I was thinking that a horse would tire a lot quicker than a dog so the dog might travel further, I guess I really don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  146. err.. Dog...

  156. I think the dog wins. Even if the horse swims faster the dog can stay on the horse and at the end the dog just jumps into the goal :D Sasa (dietimi (at) gmx (dot) de)
